Joe Burrow reveals whom he wants Bengals to pick in NFL Draft

Joe Burrow knows exactly who he wants the Cincinnati Bengals to take with the No. 5 pick.

The Cincinnati Bengals seem to have gotten the quarterback right with Joe Burrow, but the organization needs to get him some help with the No. 5 overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Burrow went No. 1 overall out of LSU in the 2020 NFL Draft. The 2019 Heisman Trophy winner had a promising rookie season derailed by a torn ACL. While he probably would love to see his LSU teammate Ja’Marr Chase in Bengals stripes or Florida tight end Kyle Pits if the Atlanta Falcons pass on him at No. 4 Burrow is cool with whatever the Bengals decide to do with the No. 5 overall pick.

“I trust the organization to do what they do and do their jobs and pick the best player,” said Burrow to Cris Collinsworth. “I think we’re in a good spot to take just the best available. Especially after the free agency we had. We got a lot of really good players that are going to be a lot of help on defense and Riley Reiff at tackle is going to help us a lot.”

“I’m not watching film on any of these guys. I’ve just seen highlights. The organization knows more than I do and will make the best pick.”

Should Joe Burrow hope the Bengals take Ja’Marr Chase of Penei Sewell?

Had the Bengals not added veteran offensive tackle Riley Reiff in free agency, Cincinnati would have no choice but to take the best tackle prospect in the draft, whether that be Penei Sewell out of Oregon or Rashawn Slater out of Northwestern. Cincinnati may take the next Anthony Muñoz in Sewell or a Big Ten beast who used to keep Burrow’s Ohio State teammate Chase Young in check.

The great news for the Bengals is that they do not need to trade back to get the high-quality player they are looking for. Whether it is Chase, Pitts, Sewell or Slater, all four are deserving of being the No. 5 overall pick. Burrow will certainly embrace better protection, as well as having a superstar receiving talent to rifle the pigskin to. He trusts the organization’s judgment here.

For the sake of Burrow’s knee, let’s hope the Bengals organization makes the right pick at No. 5.
