Former Ohio State standout Justin Fields has let NFL teams know he is managing epilepsy.

With the 2021 NFL Draft only a week out, Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Justin Fields has revealed to NFL teams he is managing epilepsy.

The news was first reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Throughout the draft process, Fields has confirmed to prospective clubs he is managing the neurological disorder. The belief is he will be able to outgrow it in his 20s like many members of his family have before him. He continues to take medication for the condition and has yet to have an episode on the field while playing football. This should not affect his draft status at all.

Justin Fields is managing epilepsy ahead of his budding NFL career

Fields is a lock to go inside of the top 10 picks of the 2021 NFL Draft. Though he could go as high as the New York Jets at No. 2, the first team to likely take him are the San Francisco 49ers who moved up from No. 12 to No. 3 to draft a franchise quarterback. Other teams interested in Fields include his hometown Atlanta Falcons, the Denver Broncos and the New England Patriots.

As long as Fields continues to take his medication, it is not going to negatively impact his NFL career whatsoever. Nobody is going to rip him to pieces for having a seizure on the field due to having epilepsy. It is a medical condition Fields has had to navigate throughout his young life. The more teams know about it, the more they can help him.

Fields will make one NFL franchise very happy when he is taking in next weekend’s draft.
