Ronald Acuña Jr. could make his Atlanta Braves return on Friday vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. missed Tuesday night’s game vs. the New York Yankees and will not play in the series finale on Wednesday night either.

However, Acuña did hit off the tee Wednesday and did participate in his baseball activities. With the Braves having a travel day ahead of their weekend homestand vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks, there is a very good chance we will see Acuña back on the field for Atlanta by the end of the weekend. Acuña has not played since injuring himself on a slide back into first base on Sunday.

It does not sound like a brief trip on the IL will be in the mix for Acuña and the Braves.

Atlanta Braves: Ronald Acuña Jr. should be back in the lineup by this weekend

Braves Country was not in a good place when Acuña had to exit Sunday Night Baseball‘s game vs. the Chicago Cubs. He first hurt his abdomen diving back into the first base bag on a pickoff attempt. While he would stay in the game and score a run, he would then be removed from the contest after belly-diving across home plate. Acuña has been held out for precautionary reasons.

The shame in all this is Acuña has been on fire at the plate this year. After struggling like the rest of his teammates in the season-opening series vs. the Philadelphia Phillies, it has been Acuña’s world pretty much ever since, and we are just living in it. Though the Braves have had a hard time getting into rhythm in April, the only thing slowing down Acuña has been … himself, unfortunately.

Braves fans will rejoice once they see their beloved outfielder in the lineup later this weekend.
