2021 NFL Mock Draft: Justin Fields or Mac Jones at No. 3 overall?
By Brad Weiss
The 2021 NFL Draft is next week, and as we inch closer to the first round, rumors are flying all over the place as to who the third QB selected will be.
We are officially one week away from the 2021 NFL Draft, and there are still so many questions left to be answered. The consensus is that Trevor Lawrence will go No. 1, and Zach Wilson No. 2, but after that, it is anybody’s guess.
With that said, here is our latest 2021 NFL Mock Draft.
The Jacksonville Jaguars pick first, and this is one of those draft seasons where we know who the first overall selection will be. Since coming in as a star during his freshman year at Clemson, Trevor Lawrence has been the consensus No. 1 selection, and he takes over a Jacksonville franchise that is in desperate need of a superstar.
Lawrence apparently is already getting used to the Jaguars playbook, so there is no chance that Urban Meyer decides to go anywhere else with this pick. He has the size, skill, and Football IQ you look for in a franchise guy, and maybe he can be the one who finally turns this Jaguars franchise around.
As is the case with Trevor Lawrence as the No. 1 overall pick, it is seeming more and more set in stone that Zach Wilson will be the No. 2 overall selection. The New York Jets were blown away by his Pro Day, and after trading away Sam Darnold, they will attempt to add another top-3 quarterback to change the fortunes of the franchise.
Sure, Wilson has everything you look for in an NFL quarterback, including his arm, athletic ability, and decision-making skills. The problem is, he played nobody in college, and it remains to be seen if he can go from BYU to the Big Apple.
When it comes to the 2021 NFL Draft, most experts believe the excitement won’t start until pick No. 3, which is currently held by the San Francisco 49ers. Kyle Shanahan and company traded up to get the third pick overall, and you have to think you do not make that kind of move unless it is for a quarterback.
As we inch closer to the first round, the noise surrounding this pick is centering around Mac Jones, so that is who we will put here in this mock draft. Jones had a tremendous season for the Alabama Crimson Tide this past Fall, and if that success translates to the next level, trading up will be well worth it.
