Padres latest Dinelson Lamet update doesn’t sound promising
It doesn’t look like San Diego Padres pitcher Dinelson Lamet will be returning to the bump soon, as the latest update from the team is the opposite of promising.
On Tuesday, the San Diego Padres got quite the scare when starting pitcher Dinelson Lamet left the contest early due to forearm tightness. You could tell he was in some discomfort, and the Padres of course are never going to risk things when it comes to his health.
The latest reports out of San Diego sure don’t sound promising, as it’s expected that the hard-throwing righty will be headed to the Injured List. When will he be able to return? Things feel completely up in the air right now.
There is no plan right now for Dinelson Lamet to get an MRI. His elbow has been imaged & examined repeatedly over the past several months.

They’ll see how he feels today and go from there.
He likely will be placed on IL. Padres have some pitching moves to make to bolster bullpen.
Rough injury news has arrived for the San Diego Padres on Dinelson Lamet
Lamet was making his season debut on Tuesday, as he worked his tail off in the offseason to recover from a strained UCL in his right elbow. Because of that injury, Lamet was unable to take the bump for the Padres during the 2020 postseason run.
The hope was that he was more than ready to take the hill. He ended up lasting two innings, throwing 29 pitches and only giving up one run in his limited action. He was humming early on, throwing the ball with the kind of velocity Padres fans expected him to.
However, things quickly went south and now it’s looking like Lamet is all set for a trip to the IL. The hope is that he won’t have to miss an extended period of time, but San Diego of course will want to be smart with him and not get him back on the field until he’s at 100 percent.
