1. Cowboys in the NFC Championship Game?

Alright, yes, there had to be one borderline “hot take” within this bold predictions article. The other predictions are tempered well. However, there is thought behind this hotter take with rather legitimate reasons.

The NFC seems like it will swing a little to the lesser competitive side in terms of individual team records and quality of playoff teams. Just last season, the AFC had eight 10+ win teams, including three from one division (AFC North). The NFC had just five, and the Washington Football Team won the NFC East with seven wins.

Breaking that NFC landscape down even more, New Orleans was 12-4 last year. Now without Drew Brees, signs suggest a step back for the club. The Los Angeles Rams (10-6) seems to have gotten better with Matthew Stafford, but that is still a beatable team. Seattle (12-4) is somewhat unknown as the relationship between the organization and Russell Wilson appears to be at a crossroads.

Essentially, when you look at the NFC, two teams jump out: the Green Bay Packers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Washington Football Team and New York Giants will be competitive, but those teams are still rather unpredictable.

So, really, if Dallas finally plays to its potential, does the NFC Championship truly seem that crazy? If they can win the division and secure a Wild Card bye, anything can happen. With health, this team can score a ton of points. Defensively, Quinn has the pedigree and experience to lead a unit.

No, Dallas winning the Super Bowl is not the prediction. Nor is the prediction that the Cowboys will make it to the Super Bowl. In fact, the team could lose by double-digits in the conference championship to the presumed NFC favorite Buccaneers.

Simply, the prediction that the Cowboys could be in the NFC Championship seems crazier at face value than it actually is.
