San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. trolled Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer after hitting a home run off of him on Saturday.
The San Diego Padres have had the number of the Los Angeles Dodgers in this four-game weekend series. The Padres have taken the first two games, and were looking to take the third contest on Saturday. But, they would have to do battle with Los Angeles’ huge offseason acquisition in pitcher Trevor Bauer.
Padres star shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. was ready for that challenge.
Tatis led the game off for the Padres, and he took Bauer’s second pitch of the game deep to the left field stands of Dodger Stadium to take an early 1-0 lead. As Tatis rounded the bases, he covered one eye to mock Bauer, who pitched with one eye closed during a spring training game against the Padres.
Padres: Fernando Tatis Jr. trolls Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer during home run trot Saturday
Tatis did not forget when Bauer pointed to his closed eye towards the Dodgers dugout in the aforementioned spring training game. So, Tatis pointed to the Padres dugout while covering his eye, a clear shot at Bauer.
And here we thought the Padres-Dodgers rivalry already had enough heat.
Tatis sure is enjoying himself in Hollywood, as he entered the pivotal series with a .154 batting average. On Friday, Tatis hit two home runs and knocked in three runs in San Diego’s 6-1 victory. 24 hours later, Tatis hits a leadoff home run off Bauer.
After losing their first series of the season to the Dodgers, the Padres were motivated and ready to exact vengeance on the defending World Series champions. This series was already must watch due to the intensity and excitement of the games. Now, we have Tatis savagely trolling Bauer while rounding the bases.
Get your popcorn ready folks, because this series is only going to get more entertaining as the season progresses.
