Najee Harris has thoughts on playing for the Steelers that fans will want to hear
By John Buhler
Alabama football standout Najee Harris would embrace joining the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Najee Harris was a superstar in the backfield for the Alabama football, but he could become even more popular if he were to be drafted by a massive NFL brand like the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Doak Walker Award winner was slotted to Pittsburgh at No. 24 overall in ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay’s latest mock draft. Their ESPN colleague Stephen A. Smith asked Harris if he would be down with going to Pittsburgh. While Harris answered the question incredibly diplomatically, he could be a panacea to what has been ailing the Steelers in the backfield for sure.
What are the chances Harris ends up rocking the iconic Black and Yellow threads professionally?
Pittsburgh Steelers: Should Najee Harris be the pick at No. 24 in the draft?
Harris is one of two running backs who could go in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, along with former Clemson Tigers star Travis Etienne. Though Harris could go as high as No. 18 to the Miami Dolphins, the Steelers will be picking right around where both running backs may be coming off the board. However, they are not the only team who could be looking at adding a running back.
Teams like the New York Jets, the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Buffalo Bills could all be interested in taking a running back in the latter stages of the first round. Jacksonville has a pair of picks in that range, including the No. 33 overall pick atop the second round. Etienne may be the more well-rounded tailback talent, but Harris could become the Steelers’ version of Derrick Henry if selected.
Even if he was a senior last year, Harris’ running style will translate marvelously to the NFL level.
