Milwaukee Brewers infielder Daniel Robertson took a pitch to the brim of his batting helmet in a terrifying moment for Milwaukee and the Chicago Cubs.

The Brewers got a huge scare while facing the Cubs on Sunday afternoon when infielder Daniel Robertson nearly took a fastball to the face.

Fortunately for Robertson and baseball as a whole, his batting helmet did the job and protected him from serious damage.

Still, the video is plenty scary.

That’s exactly why batting helmets exist. It’s terrifying to imagine the outcome without one.

Robertson was leaning in for a bunt when pitcher Jason Adam sent a 92.5 mph fastball high and inside. It was a recipe for disaster. Cubs players looked just as worried for him as the Brewers.

Incredibly Daniel Robertson stayed in the game after taking a pitch to the head

The good news is Robertson escaped no worse for wear. He stayed in the game and took his base. Then he went on to score when Kolten Wong hit a double to right field.

The Brewers, who held a 1-0 lead in the top of the ninth when Robertson stepped up to the plate, seemed energized by the scary moment — and Robertson’s toughness. They scored five runs to seal a 6-0 victory in Chicago.

Milwaukee improved to 13-9 while retaining their lead atop the NL Central. The win gave them a 2-1 advantage over the Cubs in the series. Next up they’ll get a look at the Marlins at home.

Robertson joined the Brewers this year after spending 2020 with the Giants. He spent three seasons with the Rays before that. The 27-year-old infielder hasn’t exactly found his feet yet in Milwaukee. He has appeared in 18 games this year with a batting average of .111 and just four hits.
