It’s looking like Chicago Cubs’ Joc Pederson could be returning to the lineup sooner than expected for David Ross.
Earlier this week, the Chicago Cubs got some bad news on outfielder Joc Pederson, who suffered a wrist injury and was placed on the 10-day Injury List. In what’s been a rough start to his playing days for the Cubbies, the news quite literally added insult to injury.
However, the latest update on the veteran slugger is encouraging, as skipper David Ross said that Pederson is making plenty of strides and the progress has surely been promising.
The Chicago Cubs have received some promising news on veteran outfielder Joc Pederson
As you can see from the tweet above, Pederson indeed is feeling much better and his injury doesn’t appear to be serious whatsoever. The Cubs won’t rush him back, of course, but it’s looking like fans can see him back in the lineup soon enough.
Once he does return to action, Ross and Co. will hope Pederson can return to his usual standout form. That simply hasn’t been the case thus far in 2021. Before being placed on the IL, Pederson was sporting a .137 batting average with only one homer and seven hits. Those are obviously not the kinds of stats the team was expecting from him when he signed his one-year contract.
Looking ahead to the rest of the campaign, Pederson and the rest of the guys in the dugout need to wake up at the dish. The Cubs are a disappointing 10-10 on the year as of this writing and sit in third place of the NL Central standings. The division is wide open for someone to take the title home this season. In order for Chicago to do that, we’re going to need to see more from them offensively.
