San Diego Padres star shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. crushed another home run off the Los Angeles Dodgers.
San Diego Padres star shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. has caught the ire of the Los Angeles Dodgers in this series. After his two home run effort on Saturday, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts accused Tatis of peeking at signs. On Sunday, Tatis proved that he does not need to look at the signs to crush baseballs out of Dodger Stadium.
In the top of the fourth inning, Tatis crushed a solo home run off Dodgers pitcher Dustin May to right-center field to cut the Padres deficit to 2-1.
Yes, that’s now five home runs in the series, with bombs off Clayton Kershaw, Bauer and now May. Good luck explaining that away.
Padres: Fernando Tatis Jr. continues to hit homers off Dodgers pitchers
Not only did Tatis hit five home runs in the past three games, but this also ended May’s no-hitter bid.
Tatis entered this series against the rival Dodgers with a lowly .154 batting average, mostly due to him missing games with subluxation of the left shoulder. As it turns out, all Tatis needed was a trip to Hollywood to break out of his slump.
On Friday, Tatis hit two home runs off Kershaw, a three-time NL Cy Young award winner. 24 hours later, Tatis smashed two homers off Trevor Bauer and trolled him by covering one eye as he rounded the bases. That was a shot at Bauer for pitching with one eye closed against the Padres in spring training. Now, he has one homer against May on Sunday.
Now one has to wonder if the Dodgers will choose to walk Tatis from here on out, considering the track record he has against them this series. We would not fault them whatsoever.
