The Green Bay Packers reportedly informed Aaron Rodgers this offseason that they were planning to trade him, but then they backed off on those plans.

What in the heck is going on with the Green Bay Packers right now? On Thursday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that quarterback Aaron Rodgers is so upset with the team, he doesn’t plan on returning to Lambeau Field next season.

Now, fellow NFL insider Trey Wingo has made things even more interesting. Per Wingo, the Packers informed Rodgers earlier this offseason that they were going to trade him. Since then, the team has backed off on those plans. Goodness.

Aaron Rodgers has every right to be furious with the Green Bay Packers

This really is quite the report from Wingo. It’s one thing for Green Bay to tell Rodgers they were going to ship him out of town. But, to then backpedal and then decide they want to keep him is totally disrespectful. No wonder Rodgers, reportedly, has no intentions of suiting up for the team again.

In 2020, Rodgers was nothing short of sensational, winning the MVP award after throwing for 48 touchdowns during the regular season. How does the franchise thank him for that? Well, they asked him to restructure his contract and then told him they were going to trade him? That’s not how you treat a future Hall-of-Fame signal-caller.

While Gutekunst has said that he won’t trade Rodgers and that he’s the leader of the team, word from NFL circles is that the San Francisco 49ers are trying to work their magic to try and land the superstar quarterback.

As things stand, it feels like Rodgers has played his last game with the team. If that’s the case, things really could not have been handled worse by the organization.
