Eagles took DeVonta Smith and completely screwed the Giants
The Eagles jumped ahead of the Giants and selected dynamic receiver DeVonta Smith.
The Philadelphia Eagles drafted Jalen Reagor in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. That pick is not looking so great so the team decided to opt for a do-over.
The NFC East is truly running wild because Philadelphia traded up with the Dallas Cowboys in order to jump ahead of the New York Giants. The pick was Alabama receiver DeVonta Smith, who was easily a perfect fit for the Giants.
Eagles screw Giants by taking DeVonta Smith
The Cowboys trading with the Eagles was surprising enough. Then comes the fact the Eagles have now gone back-to-back in terms of taking a receiver in the first round. But it is hard to knock this move given Smith’s legendary 2020 season at Alabama.
The Giants ended up immediately trading down after the pick so it appears they were not greedy enough in terms of pursuing a player who could have shown up and been the new number one receiver right away.
As always, fans are going to actually want to see results out of the latest receiver drafted to the team before getting too excited. But screwing over the Giants in the process of making the pick is something fans can smile about Thursday night.
