Green Bay Packers NFL Draft 2021 picks, trades, and grades
By Josh Hill
Who did the Green Bay Packers draft this year and how did they do?
The twilight of the Aaron Rodgers era in Green Bay is officially here. And so to may be the end.
Before the Draft could even get underway, Adam Schefter reported that Rodgers is telling some within the organization that he wants out.
Yikes. But who can blame him?
After refusing to try and make it 10 yards in the NFC Championship Game, the Packers once again ended a season without a trip to the Super Bowl. Rodgers has exactly one of those in his entire career, which as it stands now is the biggest head scratcher of this era in football.
How a Hall of Fame quarterback who plays for one of the league’s premier franchises has only one Super Bowl trip is an assault. Generalists who love football can’t wrap their heads around it but Packers fans have been forced to live this reality for the last decade.
Rodgers won the MVP in 2020, but it came in a year where the Packers wasted a first-round pick on Jordan Love — a backup quarterback. In his entire career in Green Bay, not once have the Packers spent a first-round selection on a wide receiver target for Rodgers to add to his arsenal.
Fans are hoping that ends this year.
Green Bay can’t afford to leave Rodgers twisting in the wind as the final years of his prime roll off the scroll. Matt LaFluer and Brian Gutekunst didn’t stick the landing with the draft class last year but 2021 provides a chance to start anew — while there’s still time.
