The Chicago Bears traded up to 11th overall to take Justin Fields, finally giving a desperate fanbase hope for the future.

The Chicago Bears came into the NFL Draft with the 20th-overall pick in the first round.

It seemed the Bears were going to be too far away to get one of the big five quarterbacks. However, they made it a point to move up nine spots when Ohio State’s Justin Fields fell all the way to 11. Once considered the second-best prospect in the draft, Fields was drafted after fellow quarterbacks Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, and Trey Lance.

The Bears make the only choice and select Justin Fields after trading up.

The Bears traded a haul to get Fields (2022 first-round pick and multiple other picks), but it’s worth it to finally get the right player under center. The Bears signed Andy Dalton in the offseason, but to say the Bears fans were not excited about the prospect of him starting would be an understatement.

Now, they have a quarterback to get excited about. Fields was a monster at Ohio State, winning every single Big Ten game he played. His athleticism is great, and his arm is big enough to make all the throws at the next level. The Bears kept Allen Robinson this offseason. They are building around Darrell Mooney. It’s because they knew the quarterback of the future was coming.

In 2019, Fields threw for 3,273 yards with 41 touchdowns against three interceptions. Last year, he played eight games in a COVID-shortened season and threw for 2,100 yards and 22 touchdowns with six interceptions.

Fields goes to a team where the conversation is between Jim McMahon and Jay Cutler for best quarterback of the Super Bowl era. They just moved on from Mitch Trubisky, who the Bears famously traded up to draft ahead of Patrick Mahomes. Now, they have a certified superstar under center.

This could be a new era for the Chicago Bears.
