The Chicago Bears are easily 2-for-2 in the 2021 NFL Draft, selecting Oklahoma State’s Teven Jenkins to protect Justin Fields.

The Bears had a lot of holes to fill this April, and have done so swiftly. While selecting Justin Fields was the primary need, the Bears have followed up that pick with another huge need, taking Jenkins to build a solid offensive line around their quarterback of the future.

Jenkins highlighted the best players available heading into Day 2, as many had him as a potential top-20 pick heading into the NFL Draft. With a slew of offensive linemen being taken early on in the second-round, the Bears were sure to jump at the chance to take their future right tackle.

The Bears are prioritizing their offense for the future

Jenkins is a unit on the offensive line, and plays with a tenacity that Chicago will love. The Bears needed offensive line help, but haven’t exactly addressed this hole in its entirety this offseason. He also tested quite well at his Pro Day in terms of footwork and pass protection, and appears to be a player who can keep up with a speedy Fields should he move the pocket.

Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy are under fire to live up to their once-promised high expectations, and this year may be their last to convince ownership they’re the right men for the future in Chicago. So far, so good in April’s showcase.
