Eric Stokes shouts out Packers after being drafted in first round

Georgia football standout Eric Stokes is super stoked to get to play for the Green Bay Packers.
Late into the night on Thursday, the Green Bay Packers made former Georgia football star Eric Stokes their No. 29 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Stokes had been a top-60 prospect throughout the draft process, but an impressive pro day saw his stock skyrocket in recent weeks. Seemingly out of nowhere, he was the lone Georgia player to be taken in the first round, not outside linebacker Azeez Ojulari or fellow cornerback Tyson Campbell. Regardless, Stokes cannot wait to get to work now that he is a member of the Packers.
Here he is expressing his enthusiasm of heading to Green Bay on Twitter late Thursday night.
Eric Stokes could not be more fired up to be going to the Green Bay Packers
While Stokes may be ecstatic about heading to Green Bay, many Packers fans and quarterback Aaron Rodgers would have probably preferred the No. 29 pick to have been a receiver. Green Bay is still looking for a high-end No. 2 wide-receiving option to pair alongside perennial Pro Bowler Davante Adams. Though Stokes can absolutely fly in the defensive backfield, he is not a wideout.
What Green Bay is getting is a versatile defensive back who was coached up playing for Kirby Smart in Athens. Stokes is at his best making plays in the middle of the field. While he may not be the cover-man technician of Campbell or as instinctive as undersized safety Richard LeCounte III, Stokes went in the first round for a reason. The Packers are expecting big things out of Stokes.
The newest Packer is excited to be heading to Green Bay, and that is all you can ever really ask for.
