Justin Fields has an incredible message to teams that passed on him in NFL Draft
By John Buhler
Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields had a message for all the teams that passed on him.
With former Ohio State football star Justin Fields heading to the Chicago Bears, the quarterback had a message for all of his doubters.
Fields went No. 11 overall to Chicago, who had to trade up to get him in a deal with the New York Giants. He was the fourth quarterback taken this year after Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson and Trey Lance went one-two-three to the Jacksonville Jaguars, the New York Jets and the San Francisco 49ers, respectively. We have seen firsthand what happens when you doubt Fields in college.
“I’ve gone through situations where I haven’t been chosen. I think the world has seen the outcome of that.”
This is a direct shot at those three teams, the Denver Broncos and of course, the Georgia Bulldogs.
Chicago Bears: Justin Fields fires shots at all the teams who ever doubted him
Admittedly, this could come back to haunt him like Josh Rosen’s comment on the nine teams who passed on him back in 2018. While Fields was never going to Jacksonville anyway, if he succeeds in Chicago, it will be a terrible look for teams like the Jets, the 49ers and maybe even the Broncos. Georgia looked bad picking Jake Fromm over him, and what about his hometown Atlanta Falcons?
Atlanta may have a future Hall-of-Fame quarterback in Matt Ryan and opted to take the best non-quarterback in the draft in tight end Kyle Pitts out of Florida at No. 4. So that decision-making process can be justified. But when it comes to the Broncos, you better end up trading for Aaron Rodgers, because otherwise, what on Planet Earth are you doing? Whatever it is, it is not good.
Fields has huge expectations in Chicago, but it looks like he will play with a chip on his shoulder.
