Kevin Porter Jr. shocks NBA and drops a 50-spot on Bucks
Kevin Porter Jr. went off Thursday night for 50 points to shock the NBA world and help the Rockets take down the Bucks.
Kevin Porter Jr. has had a rough start to his NBA career. Things got so bad in Cleveland he was traded to the Houston Rockets earlier this season.
Porter was in the news recently for violating COVID-19 protocols by attending a strip club in Miami. So the fact he is in the news again may have some fans expecting the worst. Only this time, it was because he scored 50 points to help the Rockets down the Milwaukee Bucks.
In the process, he became the fourth-youngest player in NBA history to score 50 points, behind only Brandon Jennings, LeBron James and Devin Booker.
Kevin Porter Jr. has a career night
The 20-year-old made plenty of history with his insane final line. He finished with 50 points, 11 assists and knocked down nine 3-pointers. The point and assist total beat a mark previously set by LeBron James.
Fans in Cleveland have to be wincing at this performance. Porter was heralded as the key of that team’s rebuild, only to be traded. That situation was complex and involved the team trying to help him, but most Cavaliers fans won’t care too much about all of that.
The Rockets are in a rebuilding phase and now has a legitimate rising star to build around in Porter. The key with him is simply staying on the right path and staying out of trouble. If he can do that, there is no telling what his ceiling can be in the NBA. Remember, he is still only 20 years old.
