Michigan football star Kwity Paye getting drafted by the Indianapolis Colts is one of the best stories of the 2021 NFL Draft so far.

The Indianapolis Colts made former Michigan football standout Kwity Paye their No. 21 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, forever changing he and his family’s life in the process.

Paye became the second first-round pick from Rhode Island, but his story is much deeper than that. He was born in a refugee camp as his family tried to escape war-torn Liberia. They settled in Providence, but his mother Agnes had to make a ton of sacrifices financially to help her son achieve his dream. She worked around the clock to afford his schooling. They are very close.

After promising she would not have to pay for college, Paye is now saying his mom can retire.

Indianapolis Colts: Kwity Paye says his mom does not have to work anymore

When we talk about the lives of 32 young men changing every first round of an NFL Draft, this is what we mean. Paye will inherit life-changing money for his and his family for generations to come. Though the Colts organization is expecting to do great things in the trenches for him, he has already won the game of life after getting drafted out of Michigan. Everything else is just gravy.

What serves Paye even more is that he goes to a well-run organization in Indianapolis and one that has a rich history in developing defensive line talent. Though he does not have to become the second coming of Dwight Freeney or Robert Mathis, Paye will be a big reason for if the Colts will contend for a Super Bowl with this current core together. He makes this strong team even better.

For the Payes, all their hard work has finally paid off and they can enjoy the next step in their lives.
