New Green Bay Packers wide receiver Amari Rodgers says why he picked the Clemson football program over the Tennessee football team for college.

Now that he has been drafted by the Green Bay Packers, former Clemson football star Amari Rodgers explains his logic by not staying home to play for the Tennessee football team.

Rodgers put it very bluntly by saying that he picked Clemson over Tennessee because he wanted to win. Shots fired! There was some debate on him coming out of Knoxville Catholic High School if the Vols even offered him. As it turns out, they sure did. Rodgers did make the right choice to go play for a fantastic wide receivers coach in Dabo Swinney down in Clemson. The rest is history.

Now we know why Rodgers went to Clemson instead of staying home to play for Vols in Knoxville.

Clemson football: Amari Rodgers throws shade at the Vols football program

Look. Had the Tennessee program been better run when Rodgers was looking at schools, there is a chance he might have gone there. There is nothing like a native son starring for his hometown college team. However, Tennessee has been all sorts of chaotic for the last decade-plus and Clemson is the preeminent program in the ACC these days. Can you really blame Rodgers here?

Ultimately, Rodgers begins his new football chapter in Green Bay. He goes from one championship-caliber team to another. While he made a name for himself catching balls from this year’s top pick Trevor Lawrence in college, it remains to be seen if Aaron Rodgers will be part of the organization’s long-term plans. We may never get to see the Rodgers-to-Rodgers connection.

Once again, the Volunteers’ 2021 offseason from hell continues to get worse by the day.
