Houston Texans: B
The Texans have no way of knowing what Deshaun Watsonās future holds. Thatās why landing Davis Mills in Round 3 made sense for Houston if he is effectively a lottery ticket at the quarterback position.
Third round selection Nico Collins has star potential no matter who ultimately ends up throwing him passes in Houston. Wideouts with his combination of size and speed shouldnāt fall all the way down to No. 89.
The same can be said about fifth round pick Brevin Jordan. Heās not going to help them as a blocker at tight end, but heās a dynamic receiver. The Texans did a good job of finding value despite entering the draft with limited capital.
Indianapolis Colts: D
Indianapolis better hope Kwity Paye turns into a star. He was a good roll of the dice at No. 21, but the rest of the Colts draft is full of question marks.
Dayo Odeyingbo was a huge reach in Round 2. He wasnāt dominant in college for Vanderbilt and heās coming off a torn Achilles. That pick was a huge missed opportunity for the Colts to fill their glaring need at left tackle.
Indianapolis has a quality front office but this draft class doesnāt reflect that. The Colts should and will do better in the future.
Jacksonville Jaguars: B-
Picking Trevor Lawrence at No. 1 was obvious, but the Jaguars still get a grade boost for landing him. Unfortunately, they gave back some of that credit by reaching for his college teammate Travis Etienne later in the round.
Tyson Campbell represents another reach early in Round 2, but grabbing Walker Little later in the round was smart business for the Jags. Third round safety Andre Sisco could drastically outperform his draft slot as an immediate starter in Urban Meyerās defensive backfield.
The Jaguars didnāt maximize their draft class, but they did well enough to get Meyerās tenure off to a promising start.
Tennessee Titans: A
Thereās a lot to like about the Titansā draft class even though they didnāt have a premium selection to work with. Caleb Farley was arguably the most talented corner in his class and could pay off huge if he overcomes his back injury issues. Dillon Radunz will need time to develop at the next level, but thereās a strong chance he becomes a long-term starter at left tackle. Thatās great value for the Titans in Round 2.
Grabbing Elijah Molden with the 100th pick of the draft could also be a steal. He doesnāt have elite measurables, but his tape at Washington was excellent. Heās got terrific feel for the cornerback position. Fourth round selection Rashad Weaver could contribute early for Tennessee on passing downs as a rookie.
Credit the Titans for doing an excellent job with the draft resources at tehir disposal.
