Former NFL player Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson to make boxing debut on Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul undercard
Famed Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson (also known as Chad Ochocinco) will be competing on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul
Chad Johnson (also known as Chad Ochocinco) is known for all the great catches he made and touchdowns he scored on the NFL gridiron. But now he’ll be looking to succeed in the boxing ring as well, as he will be competing in a match on the undercard of the Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul card on June 6 in Miami, FL.
While the bout’s information has not been finalized yet, Johnson will most likely be facing another athlete or celebrity instead of a boxer. It will be an exhibition bout of either four or six rounds.
Mayweather’s team confirmed the news to ESPN earlier, with Johnson mentioning the opportunity during the “I AM ATHLETE” podcast.
“Everything in life I’m good at outside of golf,” Johnson said. “June 6, ‘Sweet Feet Johnson’ is going to go in there and do what I do best.”

After a successful college football career at Santa Monica College and Oregon State, Johnson was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft.
During his decade-long tenure in Cincinnati, Johnson was a six-time Pro Bowler, earning Second-Team All-Pro honors in 2003 and First-Team All-Pro honors from 2004 to 2006. He was also the NFL receiving yards leader in the 2006 season.
Johnson then joined the New England Patriots for the 2011 season, having his least productive season but becoming an AFC champion and playing in his lone Super Bowl. In Super Bowl XLVI, his lone, 21-yard reception was the Pats’ longest of the whole game, which they lost to the New York Giants.
Johnson signed with the Miami Dolphins in 2012 but was released during the pre-season after being arrested for domestic violence.
Johnson’s NFL career ended with 766 career receptions for a total of 11,059 career receiving yards and 67 career touchdowns.
