3 players Mets could’ve traded for instead of Francisco Lindor

2. Kris Bryant

Kris Bryant is on the same level as Lindor in terms of what he could have commanded before that $341 million was signed.

Bryant is a former National League MVP and is putting up MVP numbers once again in 2021. This is another example of the Mets missing a perfect opportunity.

Bryant and the Chicago Cubs have their differences and both sides may have agreed a split was the best option back in the winter. But now, his great play could have the Cubs planning to keep him around for the long-term.

The third baseman being available at all may now not even be a possibility. So if Cohen wanted to make another splash this offseason, it may be too late.

Bryant has also helped his team more when it matters most. His Cubs took down Lindor’s Indians squad in the 2016 World Series and the current Mets shortstop was notorious for struggling in the biggest moments. His one hit in last year’s first-round playoff series was a sad end to what was initially a fun run in Cleveland.

Bryant is playing like an MVP and Lindor is trying to just achieve a positive WAR value. Mets fans have a right to second-guess this decision.
