Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson once again crossed the line on Monday night against the New York Rangers.

Whenever Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson trends on Twitter, every NHL fan asks themselves, “what did he do this time?” As it turns out, he did quite a lot during Monday night’s game against the New York Rangers.

After the Capitals blew a 2-0 lead to trail the Rangers 3-2 in the second period, things got ugly in Washington’s crease. As the play was called dead, Wilson proceeded to punch Rangers winger Pavel Buchnevich in the head while he was face down on the ice.

Things only got worse, as Artemi Panarin came in to defend Buchnevich. Wilson then slammed a helmet-less Panarin onto the ice, punched him repeatedly in the head and prevented him from getting up off the ice.

Wilson was assessed four-minutes for roughing and a 10-minute misconduct, but was not ejected from the game. Panarin and Buchnevich were called two-minutes for roughing, as well as Capitals defenseman Brenden Dillon.

Panarin did not return to the game after his interaction with Wilson, as he was ruled out with a lower body injury.

Wilson is no stranger to penalties or suspensions, for that matter. The forward has been suspended a grand total of five times throughout his career for his dangerous and reckless play. In fact, Wilson was handed a seven-game ban earlier this year for hitting a defenseless Brandon Carlo in the head against the boards during a game against the Boston Bruins.

With his actions against both Buchnevich and Panarin on Monday night, Wilson could very well receive the sixth suspension of his career. Best believe hockey fans will be waiting for a press release from the NHL’s Department of Player Safety in the coming hours.
