player. 58. . QB. Washington Commanders. Sam Howell. 9

We start a little bit of a run on quarterbacks here at No. 9 overall, where the Washington Football Team stands in our early 2022 mock draft. With this selection, the WFT adds UNC signal-caller Sam Howell, who could very well be the No. 1 overall pick in next year’s draft when all is said and done.

Washington has added some quality talent this offseason, but the combination of Ryan Fitzpatrick and Taylor Heinecke is not a long-term solution. Howell has a strong arm, does not make mistakes, and is as NFL-ready as they come in terms of the position group.

44. . QB. Atlanta Falcons. Malik Willis. 10. player

With pick No. 10 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons dip into the quarterback pool with Malik Willis from Liberty. It seems like every year we see a quarterback from an FCS school go in the first round, and in Willis, the Falcons would be getting the long-term replacement for Matt Ryan.

Ryan should have a lot of good football left in him, so it is not like Willis is going to have to jump in and start right away. When he eventually does get the key to the car, he will be inheriting a team with plenty of weapons for him to take advantage of.

OT. New York Giants. Rasheed Walker. 11. player. 31.

The New York Giants will pick twice in the first 11 selections in this year’s NFL Draft, and this haul should make them the team to beat in the division for quite some time. With this pick, the Giants land Rasheed Walker, a dominating offensive tackle from Penn State to handle duties on Daniel Jones’ blindside.

New York is building something special for the long-term, and picking twice in the first 11 selections is due to the fact they traded with the Chicago Bears in the first round this past Thursday. Daniel Jones working out is imperative for Dave Gettleman to keep his job, so offensive tackle is a smart play here.

32. . S. Arizona Cardinals. Kyle Hamilton. 12. player

During the 2021 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals focused heavily on the defensive side of the ball, adding linebacker Zaven Collins in the first round. After selecting Rondale Moore in the second, they brought in an edge rusher and two cornerbacks, showing how badly they want to improve that side of the ball.

In 2022, they keep their focus on the defense in the first round, adding Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton, the best player in this class at his position group. Hamilton is a ballhawk, is not afraid to make the big play, and is outstanding in coverage.
