Chicago Cubs outfielder Joc Pederson thought he hit a walk-off vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers on this sacrifice fly.

Nobody has pimped the hell out of a sacrifice fly quite like Chicago Cubs outfielder Joc Pederson did vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday night.

Prior to the 2021 MLB season, Pederson had spent his entire professional career in the Dodgers organization. He was an All-Star back in 2015, helping the Dodgers win their first World Series championship since 1988 last year. However, he was not part of the Dodgers’ long-term plans, as signed a one-year deal with a mutual option with the North Siders ahead of the 2021 campaign.

It is pretty clear Pederson wanted this sacrifice fly to land on Sheffield Avenue Wednesday night.

Chicago Cubs: Joc Pederson can avoided further embarrassment since they won

The Cubs went on to beat the Dodgers in extra innings on Wednesday night, 6-5. They improved to 15-16 on the year after taking three straight over the defending world champions. While the Cubs are only three games back of the rival St. Louis Cardinals for the NL Central lead, the Dodgers have been the worst team in baseball for the better part of a month. They are reeling.

After getting off to a blistering 13-2 start, the Dodgers have gone an absolutely pitiful 4-13 over their last 17 games. Los Angeles finds itself in third place in the NL West with a good, but not great 17-15 record into the first week of May. When you are playing as badly as the Detroit Tigers in your last 10 games (2-8), you know you are playing some absolutely terrible baseball right now.
