Ohio State and Notre Dame could potentially win the Arch Manning sweepstakes for 2023.

Big news has come out regarding the recruit of 5-star 2023 quarterback prospect Arch Manning.

He has several visits lined up in June, but is interested making visits to several other college campuses. Among those schools he could potentially be making a visit to later this summer include Notre Dame and Ohio State football programs. If those visits were to happen, they would probably be occurring in July.

Here is what Manning’s father Cooper Manning about his son’s high-profile recruitment.

“You still want to workout with your teammates and don’t be gone every day, you want to have some semblance of normalcy,” said Manning to 247Sports. “Arch has been talking to Stanford, he’s especially interested in doing a Stanford, USC swing and also a Notre Dame, Ohio State swing. It might be hard to get it all done in June but he’s been enjoying talking to those guys as well.”

“On the heels of that I think there will be a time he wants to see Virginia (where his older sister will attend school) and North Carolina, too. He’s been to LSU and he’s been to Ole Miss. We’ll figure out, hopefully whether it be in July, go see some schools, maybe it’s in the dead period but at least you can go see some things out there.”

“Then August boom you’re in summer practice and it gets harder. He’s been enjoying getting to know these schools from other parts of the country. You kind of knock out what’s close to you and he’s enjoyed having conversations with Notre Dame, Ohio State, Stanford and USC. They just kind of came on the scene in the last month or so, the last few months.”

Could Arch Manning sign with either Notre Dame or Ohio State in 2023?

What is interesting in Notre Dame and Ohio State’s inclusion is that Manning would be potentially willing to leave the Southeastern footprint.

Having a Manning commit to a non-SEC team sounds blasphemous, but he has shown interest in Clemson and Texas in other Power 5 conferences.

If a Power 5 program were to be able to pry Manning away from the SEC, Clemson or Texas, one would have to think it would be either Notre Dame or Ohio State. These have been two of the best eight programs in the Power 5 throughout the College Football Playoff era. They recruit nationally and regularly compete for championships. At this time, Manning’s interest in them feels palpable.

If Manning does not play for a southern school, look for it to be either Notre Dame or Ohio State.
