Former NFL player saved man after fiery train crash

Former NFL player Brandon Bair saves a man’s life after a terrifying and fiery train crash.

If not for former NFL player Brandon Bair, a man would have died in a train crash in East Idaho.

Bair was driving along Highway 20 in St. Anthony, Idaho when he saw a train collide with a semitruck, which led to an immediate explosion. The former Oregon Ducks standout and defensive end for the Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders and Philadelphia Eagles came to the rescue just in the nick of time. Had Bair not reacted in time, 25-year-old Steven Jenson would be dead.

“It was a conscious decision that I’m going in because he needs help right now,” said Bair to East Idaho News. “I ran up to the window and saw dripping, hot flames all over inside of the truck. I could see a guy in a seatbelt and was able to reach in and get it off of him. He was talking, and I told him we had to get out of here now.”

“We walked away, and within seconds, the fire on the roof fell down inside, and the whole seat and cab went up in flames. A few minutes later, there were a couple big booms and explosions.”

Jenson was airlifted to a nearby hospital and as of Friday is in stable condition.

Bair may have played five years in the NFL with three different franchises, but this is without question the most clutch and defining moment of his life up to this point. Hopefully, nobody ever finds themself in a do-or-die situation like this, but if the moment were to ever arise, let’s hope we have the strength and the courage to act as bravely as Bair did to save Jenson from a fiery demise.
