NFL schedule release: Complete list of every Thursday Night Football game
Rams-Seahawks and Chargers-Chiefs are among the highlights of the 2021 Thursday Night Football schedule.
Thursday Night Football may be the bane of NFL players’ existence but the league still has big plans for the package going forward. 2021 will be the final season that FOX airs Thursday Night Football with the package going exclusively to Amazon in 2022, making this year’s schedule quite interesting.
Scheduling games on Thursday has always been tricky for the NFL, which has to consider travel concerns more often than for a typical Sunday afternoon game. Most teams have to travel the day before the game so the NFL has operated with a general guideline to avoid having teams cross more than two time zones on a short week.
There are a few big divisional matchups as a result of that scheduling principle, headlined by Seahawks-Rams in the NFC West and Chiefs-Chargers in the AFC West. These two games could play significant parts in those divisional races so they will be must-watch television.
Check out the full Thursday night slate below. A lot of these games leaked early on and it is important to note that Week 1‘s Thursday opener (Cowboys at Buccaneers) and Week 12’s Thanksgiving night game (Bills at Saints) air on NBC as part of the Sunday Night Football package.
