LSU reunion on tap when Justin Jefferson’s Vikings meet Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase and Bengals in Week 1
By John Buhler
It will be a mini LSU football reunion when the Cincinnati Bengals host the Minnesota Vikings.
If there is one NFL game LSU football head coach Ed Orgeron is watching Week 1 this year, it would have to be the one going on between the Minnesota Vikings and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Why live in the college football past when the NFL future is going to be so awesome? Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase’s Bengals will host Justin Jefferson’s Vikings in the early-afternoon window in Week 1 at Paul Brown Stadium. This game has the potential to be the best thing to happen to the LSU football program since winning it all in 2019.
Even for an early-window game, this one could be almost as fun as a Baton Rouge Saturday night.

For Minnesota, the Vikings are in win-now mode with Kirk Cousins as their franchise quarterback. Though they may have selected former Texas A&M standout Kellen Mond in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, this Vikings team will make the NFL Playoffs if Cousins plays well by rifling the ball to Jefferson and Adam Thielen a ton, as well as getting a fantastic year out of Dalvin Cook.
As for Cincinnati, the Bengals are expected to finish in last place in the AFC North again. However, with Burrow back from a torn ACL and Chase making his way to the Queen City as the No. 5 overall pick, the Bengals could push for .500 if the offense plays up to standard, the defense improves and Zac Taylor proves he is worthy of being an NFL head coach. It could all happen or it may not.
