Yankees COVID-19 count up to 7 with Aaron Boone’s latest update
Unfortunately for the New York Yankees, manager Aaron Boone has revealed that the team’s COVID-19 list is now up to seven people.
There’s a bit of a COVID-19 concern for the New York Yankees right now. On Wednesday, skipper Aaron Boone revealed that there have been seven total positive cases recorded within the organization. On Tuesday, the news of three positives dropped.
On the good sign of things, though, Boone added that six of the seven positives are asymptomatic, which of course is promising news. At the same time, for there to be seven cases is a bit of a head-turner.
The New York Yankees now have seven current COVID-19 positives in the organization
The Yankees aren’t the only team currently facing some COVID-19 adversity, as the San Diego Padres have also been dealt some rough news over the past few days. This includes star Fernando Tatis Jr. testing positive, while Eric Hosmer was also sent to the COVID Injured List due to contact tracing.
Thus far for New York, pitching coach Matt Blake, third-base coach Phil Nevin and first-base coach Reggie Willits are among the positives. On Wednesday, star shortstop Gleyber Torres is also being held out of the game as a precaution, with the team waiting for his test results. Once Torres gets those results, and assuming it’s negative, the idea is for him to get right back on the field as soon as possible.
As of this writing, the Yankees are 19-16 on the year and two games back of the rival Boston Red Sox for first place in the AL East standings. This latest COVID-19 scare will of course be taken seriously, but the expectation is for things to pass soon, with the club being able to focus on going after a division title.
