Heisman odds: Can Texas star Bijan Robinson bring Heisman back to Austin?

Texas football star Bijan Robinson can bring the Heisman Trophy back to Austin.

The Texas football program has had two Heisman Trophy-winning running backs in their history in Earl Campbell and Ricky Williams. Bijan Robinson is hoping to make it a third in 2021.

Though it has been mostly a quarterback-driven award in recent years, the Heisman Trophy did go to a wide receiver last year. However, that was a weird year and DeVonta Smith was absolutely incredible for the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Regardless, Texas fans should feel pretty good about their star running back potentially bringing a Heisman back to Austin for the first time since Williams won in 1998 with these Heisman odds.

Here are the latest Heisman Trophy odds for the 2021 college season, courtesy of WynnBet.

  • Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Spencer Rattler: +600
  • Clemson Tigers quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei: +650
  • Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Bryce Young: +800
  • Georgia Bulldogs quarterback JT Daniels: +1000
  • North Carolina Tar Heels quarterback Sam Howell: +1300
  • Miami Hurricanes quarterback D’Eriq King: +1500
  • Texas Longhorns running back Bijan Robinson: +1500

Robinson may only be tied for the sixth-best Heisman odds with Miami quarterback D’Eriq King, but he does have the best odds of any non-quarterback this year. What is interesting is Robinson has significantly better odds than Iowa State’s Breece Hall, who was the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year a year ago. These odds may hinge on Texas popping immediately under Steve Sarkisian.

Texas is not favored to get to Arlington, but the Longhorns will challenge Iowa State for the right to face Oklahoma in the Big 12 title bout. Even in a bit of a rebuilding year, Texas might be able to win 10 games if Robinson is every bit as good as we think he is. Factor in the Longhorns having a new starting quarterback with Sam Ehlinger turning pro, and this could be a ground-centric team.

For the time being, Robinson offers great value when it comes to 2021 Heisman Trophy odds.
