With the late Kobe Bryant being inducted into the Naismith Memorial National Basketball Hall of Fame this weekend, his oldest daughter Natalia Bryant was the one to wear his Hall of Fame jacket.
Bryant became an NBA legend starring for the Los Angeles Lakers for two decades. He led the Lakers to five NBA Championships during his illustrious career. Tragically, he and his daughter Gianna and sever others died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California on Jan. 26, 2020. While others are being inducted into Springfield this weekend, so much of the focus will be on Bryant.
The legacy of Bryant and the Mamba Mentality lives on well over a year after his tragic passing.

With other basketball legends such as Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Kim Mulkey, the late Eddie Sutton and Rudy Tomjanovich all part of the iconic 2020 class, this could be one of the most impressive collection of players and coaches ever inducted into Springfield at one time. The 2021 class will be announced and inducted at a ceremony later on this year. It is 2020’s time to shine.
Over a year since his tragic passing, it is still hard to imagine that Bryant is no longer with us. He was the closest approximation to Michael Jordan we will ever see. He wasn’t just Los Angeles’ basketball icon, but was the signature player in the league in the gap between Jordan’s third retirement and the rise of LeBron James in the mid-2000s. Bryant was undeniably transcendent.
When Jordan inducts Bryant into the hall of fame, there will not be a dry eye in Springfield.
