1. Arizona Cardinals

The number one team that should be on the phone calling up Richard Sherman is the Arizona Cardinals. This squad is on the rise and has what it takes to go deep in the postseason. Adding Sherman can give this team a boost in many ways to win the NFC West.

First off, the Cardinals could use a player to strengthen their secondary. In efforts to replace Patrick Peterson, who jettisoned to the Minnesota Vikings this offseason, the Cardinals signed cornerbacks Malcolm Butler and Robert Alford to one-year deals. Alford is coming off an injury. But even with the recent acquisitions, it makes sense for this squad to bring in Sherman.

One, this team can toy with the idea of moving Sherman to safety. He is coming off a season where he battled calf injuries. Perhaps playing safety and letting him be the deep man back will add longevity to Sherman’s career. Sherman has been prone to getting beat on occasion so a shift could be meaningful for both parties.

The second, and maybe the most important reason to bring in Sherman, is that he knows the NFC West. Sherman could be the key to the Cardinals winning the division. He played in Pete Carroll’s system for seven years during his Seattle Seahawks tenure and spent the last three years with the San Francisco 49ers. The Cardinals can use the corner once dubbed “Optimus Prime” for inside information on their divisional opponents. That leg up, along with Sherman’s talents, could tip the scale for the Cardinals the 2021 NFL season.
