Mike Trout leaves Angels game with right calf strain (Video)
Mike Trout was forced to leave Monday night’s Angels game with a calf strain.
Mike Trout is a living legend in the game of baseball and one of the only reasons why the Los Angeles Angels enter every season with postseason hopes.
Losing him is not an option, and fans likely feared the worst Monday night when he was forced to leave the game against the Cleveland Indians. The diagnosis was a calf strain that had Trout frustrated and struggling to get into the clubhouse.
Mike Trout leaves with an injury
It is too early to know the extent of this injury, but Angels fans will rightfully panic after seeing their franchise star limp into the dugout.
This also overshadows an exciting start to a game that saw Shohei Ohtani launch a home run to take the MLB lead in that category. It appears the Angels just can’t have nice things all at once.
A calf issue is a concern, because such an injury may not heal on a normal timetable. But once again, it is too soon to offer up any speculation on Trout’s specific situation.
It goes without saying that losing Trout would be a worst-case scenario for the team. His OPS is already well over the 1.000 mark and he forms a truly dynamic duo with Ohtani at the top of the order.
Ohtani is exciting and Anthony Rendon is a force in the lineup as well, but losing Trout would just take too much production out of the lineup. Angels fans are now left refreshing Twitter, hoping for good news.
