Former Packers QB could reunite with Mike McCarthy as Dak Prescott insurance
The Dallas Cowboys are bringing in quarterback Brett Hundley in for a visit and he’s quite familiar with head coach Mike McCarthy.
Once the 2021 season arrives, Dallas Cowboys fans will be ready to see Dak Prescott return from his gruesome injury suffered in 2020 and make dazzling plays like always. However, the front office knows that they’ll need some extra insurance for him just in case.
Because of this, the team will bring in quarterback Brett Hundley in for a visit this week, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Could the team ending up signing Hundley following his visit in Arlington?
The Dallas Cowboys could end up inking Brett Hundley later this week
Hundley and Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy are quite familiar with one another, as the signal-caller suited up for him when McCarthy was still with the Green Bay Packers. Now, could a reunion be on the way?
It’s no secret that this is 100 percent Prescott’s offense and he’s the franchise quarterback, especially after inking his massive extension this offseason. With that said, Andy Dalton is gone and now with the Chicago Bears, presumably ready to start the season for them despite Justin Fields being drafted.
The name of the game here for Dallas and Hundley would be depth for the quarterbacks room. Imagine, knock on wood, something happens to Prescott next season injury wise and he needs to miss an extended amount of time. It’d be a massive blow for the Cowboys and fans would be in panic mode.
However, Hundley has experience and could fill in if needed. Again, the hope is that Prescott can stay healthy from start to finish in 2021, but if something happens, the team could do far worse than having Hundley take some snaps.
