PGA Championship DraftKings picks: $8,000 range

Cameron Smith ($8,900) – He’s not been the most active player but Smith has popped every time he’s played since February, never finishing outside the top 20 and with three top 10s — not to mention a team win at the Zurich. His lack of distance is a slight worry but his game is A-1.

Will Zalatoris ($8,800) – Speaking of top-tier game, we saw at The Masters that Zalatoris is totally capable of competing at majors and refound some form late last week at the Byron Nelson. He’s a bit expensive, though, given that his overall form since Augusta has been lackluster.

Daniel Berger ($8,700) – Berger is another golfer who’s going to be popular this week but could end up being well worth having in your lineup. He’s a quiet assassin that does everything well enough to win on any given week, even at the PGA Championship.

Tony Finau ($8,600) – Though he was criticized for not winning, Finau was a top-10 machine early in 2021 and, if he was at this price in PGA DFS games at that point, anyone would jump on that. But the form has left him of late and, with other good options around him, he’s a fade for me at Kiawah.

Scottie Scheffler ($8,500) – Scheffler’s ability off the tee and to get hot around the greens would normally make him enticing. Having said that, the form with his approach game hasn’t been there coming into the PGA Championship and I can’t trust that with such a difficult course to tackle.

Matthew Fitzpatrick ($8,400) – A recent run of high finishes came to a close for Fitzpatrick at the Wells Fargo but he’s played extremely well overall in 2021. If he can recapture form with his irons, he’s made to play a tough venue like this with how he’s performed traditionally in those situations.

Sungjae Im ($8,300) – The PGA Tour’s iron man has started to find a little bit of form as of late and has played well at Pete Dye courses recently too. A bad Round 2 at the windy Wells Fargo caused him to miss the cut but, if Im does have his form, he has a game that could play well at Kiawah and for your DraftKings lineup.

Tommy Fleetwood ($8,200) – His background playing in Europe could serve him well in the wind with the links-style course but Fleetwood has been inconsistent overall this season. He is coming off of a top-15 at the Wells Fargo but he’s hard to trust, all told.

Justin Rose ($8,100) – After jumping out to the early lead at Augusta, Rose hung on by the seat of his pants to finish high. His ball-striking hasn’t been nearly what it once was and something feels off with the swing. Yet, he’s popped on leaderboards as a grinder, which might work at Kiawah — then again, it might cause him to miss the cut. Play him at your own peril.

Tyrell Hatton ($8,000) – Hatton hasn’t been exceptional by any means over the past few months but we know how hot the Englishman can get when he flips the switch. The only concern at the PGA Championship is some hiccups around the green but, if he’s locked in on a course that should otherwise suit him, he has the potential to contend.

Louis Oosthuizen ($8,000) – While I wouldn’t go as far as to say Oosthuizen could contend this week, we’ve seen his success at The Open Championship with playing in high winds and on similar styles of courses. That could serve him well and, if he finds a hot putter as he did earlier in 2021, he could be a strong play at the bottom of this pricing tier.
