The Memphis Grizzlies are back in the 2021 NBA Playoffs and can achieve some realistic goals with just a few victories.

In a normal season the Memphis Grizzlies would have just missed the 2021 NBA Playoffs as the ninth-place team. But now, they get to host a play-in tournament game on Wednesday.

Expectations are low for this team, and maybe that means they end up being a surprise to NBA fans everywhere. Let’s now take a look at a few realistic expectations for the Grizzlies as they prepare for a do-or-die game against the San Antonio Spurs.

3. Win both play-in games

Is this goal too far-fetched? It does not appear to be, given the fact the Grizzlies finished at 38-34 this season. Memphis had two blowout wins over the Spurs, and there is no reason why they can’t beat the loser of the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors play-in game.

Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. are the exciting young stars, but Jonas Valanciunas has shown up and been a force as well. And let’s not forget about Dillon Brooks, who is averaging over 17 points per game.

The ultimate question here is whether the Grizzlies could indeed take down the Lakers or Warriors in a do-or-die game. The fact that matchup would come against a team that just lost is noteworthy. However, if the Lakers lose, it could mean they could be dealing with injuries flaring up.

The key here is how the young core holds up in their first meaningful NBA games.
