Jeremy Lin hints at retirement in emotional social media post

NBA veteran Jeremy Lin just hinted on Twitter that he’s getting ready to hang up his sneakers and call it a career. 

Have we seen sharpshooter Jeremy Lin take the hardwood for the last time? It sure feels that way now. The former NBA standout took to Twitter to deliver what surely feels like a goodbye to the game.

In an emotional Twitter post, Lin brought up the fact that the NBA’s deadline to add a player to a postseason squad has come and gone. He suited up in the G League this year in the hopes of potentially trying to help a team win the NBA Finals. Instead, Lin didn’t get the call-up he was hoping for.

In his tweet, Lin brought up the fact that he was eyeing a 10-day contract, as it would be his chance to remind an NBA team that he still has what it takes to make an impact at the highest level. Again, that call never came.

It clearly took an emotional toll on Lin, who ended up playing in the league from 2010-19. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound guard is best remembered for his breakout season with the New York Knicks back in 2011-12. Who could forget Lin’s game-winner against the Toronto Raptors, with Mike Breen’s famous “Bang!” making things even better?

Goodness, this still gives New York fans chills re-watching it. All in all, Lin ended up playing for the Knicks, Houston Rockets, Charlotte Hornets, Los Angeles Lakers, Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors and Raptors. If this indeed is the end of the road for him, Lin has absolutely nothing to hang his head about. He had quite the run on the hardwood over the years.
