Fox Sports personality Nick Wright thinks the Los Angeles Clippers tanked the end of the season to avoid the Lakers in the NBA Playoffs.

The NBA Playoffs are set to take place this weekend, but basketball fans will be attentively watching the Los Angeles Lakers’ play-in round matchup against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night. In the Western Conference, the Los Angeles Clippers are gaining massive attention for an overwhelming belief by some that the team intentionally lost their final two games of the regular-season to avoid playing the Lakers ahead of the Western Conference Finals.

After Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue said he does not “give a damn” if people believe they tanked the end of the season, Fox Sports personality Nick Wright laid out why he believes the Clippers are afraid of the Lakers.

Nick Wright believes the Clippers tanked last two games of season to avoid Lakers

In his case, Wright brings up the expansion of playing time Yogi Ferrell, Jay Scrubb and Daniel Oturu in the team’s losses to the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder. Star players Kawhi Leonard and Paul George sat out of those contests.

As a result of those losses, the Clippers are now the fourth-seed in the Western Conference, where they are scheduled to face off against the No. 5 Dallas Mavericks. Lue, as mentioned earlier, did not care about the backlash from basketball fans, because his team is healthy entering the playoffs due to him giving starters a rest.

Whether or not you believe the Clippers avoided the Lakers, the defending NBA champions need to make the playoffs first. If they are to defeat the Warriors on Wednesday night, they will clinch the seventh-seed in the West. If they lose, they will face the winner of the Memphis Grizzlies-San Antonio Spurs for a chance to clinch the eighth and final seed.
