It appears Warriors fans have made their way into Staples Center to boo LeBron James and the Lakers in Wednesday’s play-in game.

The Los Angeles Lakers are not thrilled with being in this year’s play-in tournament. But a No. 7 seed resulted in such a reality and the Lakers did not get an easy draw at all with the Golden State Warriors marching into town.

The Warriors took a 55-42 lead into halftime in what ended up sounding like a home game a few hours further north in California. Why is that? Well, the Lakers have around 6,000 fans in the stands and from the boos, it appears a bunch of Warriors fans swooped up the tickets.

The first reaction here is to think Lakers fans are booing their own team. But the boos were not just for LeBron James at the free-throw line.

There is a point to be made that a small group of Warriors fans will seem loud in an arena with limited capacity. But this is still a shocking twist and one that proves money can buy homecourt advantage for some teams.

The Lakers, however, have bigger problems at hand. The last thing the team wants is to have a do-or-die game with the Memphis Grizzlies in a few days. Los Angeles would be favored, but two games before the actual playoffs even begin would not be ideal.

Having fans in the arena in general must be nice for players around the league. The Lakers have enough experience to overcome the boos, and they could even serve as extra motivation to get back into a proper gear to avoid the upset.
