A cryptic tweet from Bashaud Breeland has Kansas City Chiefs fans hoping for a reunion.
With the 2021 NFL Draft firmly in the rearview mirror, free-agent cornerback Bashaud Breeland is still without an NFL contract heading into the heart of the offseason.
The former Clemson standout has spent the last two years starting in the Kansas City Chiefs‘ defensive backfield. They won a Super Bowl in his first year with the club and went to another last year. While he missed five games due to violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, Chiefs Kingdom would certainly welcome him back into the fold for a third season. Is he about to return?
Here is the tweet Breeland sent out after visiting the Minnesota Vikings facility on Thursday.
Is Bashaud Breeland going to the Kansas City Chiefs or the Minnesota Vikings?
Breeland will probably have to wait until the post-June 1 cuts before finding his 2021 NFL team. In the meantime, Chiefs and Vikings fans are expressing great interest in landing the starting cornerback over Twitter. Minnesota already added future Pro Football Hall of Famer Patrick Peterson in free agency this summer. Kansas City has not replaced Breeland just yet either.
Overall, Breeland will be signed by an NFL team before training camp starts. Kansas City and Minnesota should be keen on adding him, as he will raise the floor of either team’s secondary simply upon arrival. While Chiefs Kingdom is certain Breeland will be back in Chiefs uniform in 2021, legions of Vikings fans are excited about the possibility of adding him as well this summer.
Look for Breeland to make one NFL team very happy as soon as he puts pen to paper in June.
