Packers: None of top wideouts wanted to work with Jordan Love
The Green Bay Packers worked at OTAs on Tuesday without the team’s top five receivers there to grind with quarterback Jordan Love.
If the Green Bay Packers will indeed end up moving forward with Jordan Love, he’s surely not getting help in building chemistry with his receivers at OTAs this week. That’s because none of the Green Bay standout speedsters were there to catch balls from him on Tuesday.
In a surprising development, Davante Adams, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Allen Lazard, Devin Funchess and Equanimeous St. Brown were all not seen on the football field. Goodness.
None of Green Bay’s top five receivers were present at OTAs to work with Jordan Love
While veterans skipping OTAs is no shock, the fact that five Packers receivers bailed on things really is a rough look for head coach Matt LaFleur. It surely doesn’t help that the status of Aaron Rodgers for Week 1 is clear as mud.
While on ESPN with Kenny Mayne, Rodgers finally broke his silence and made it clear he loves Love (no pun intended), his teammates and the coaching staff. His main beef is with the front office, as he doesn’t see a clear philosophy for the team moving forward. It’s not about Green Bay using its first-round pick on Love last season.
Still, there appears to be plenty of work to do for general manager Brian Gutekunst in trying to patch things up with the future Hall-of-Fame signal-caller. The sooner he can go ahead and do that, the better. Should Rodgers retire or sit out the 2021 season, it will be time for Love to showcase what he can do.
Entering training camp, though, he could end up being quite rusty in making plays with Adams, Valdes-Scantling and others. Them missing OTAs sure isn’t helping things.
