Von Miller just confirmed the Chiefs are living rent-free inside his head

Von Miller sounds sick and tired of always losing to the Kansas City Chiefs.

What does it feel like to be living in history, the kind that scholars will dedicate entire careers towards studying?

We’re getting a taste of that with the Kansas City Chiefs, as football historians will one day look back at the Patrick Mahomes era with the kind of wonder that we today look back on the eras of Jim Brown or Johnny Unitas.

But not everyone living in history is enjoying their place in it.

Denver Broncos linebacker Vonn Miller is a Super Bowl-winning future Hall of Famer, yet he’s been reduced to a mere footnote thanks to his division rivals. It wasn’t that long ago that Miller was leading a vaunted Broncos defense to its second-ever Super Bowl title, but it feels like ancient history given where the NFL is today.

The fact that the Broncos have been pulverized to dust by the power of the Chiefs is not lost on Miller. He was quoted earlier this week expressing his frustration with the monolith that dwarfs any and all in the AFC.

These Von Miller Chiefs comments are going to make fans in KC smile

Even before the arrival of Mahomes, the Broncos-Chiefs rivalry has always been incredibly one-sided. Between 1970 and the turn of the century, Denver posted a dominating 45-35 record over the Chiefs, went to six Super Bowls, won two of them, and boasted an MVP superstar in its offense, all the while being led by a Hall of Fame quarterback.

Sound familiar?

But since 2010, the Chiefs have gone 13-9 against the Broncos, have an MVP future Hall of Fame quarterback (who is under contract for another decade), captured the franchise’s first-ever Super Bowl trophy and now firmly hold control of the rivalries overall record.

Just to tie a bow around Miller’s very justifiable frustration with the Chiefs, the Broncos haven’t won a game in the rivalry since Barack Obama was still in office as President.

The Broncos losing streak to the Chiefs even pre-dates Mahomes, as Alex Smith beat the Broncos back in Week 10 of the 2015 season to kick off the 11-game winning streak that appears to have no signs of breaking in the near future.
