Showtime is going all out for Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Logan Paul. Here are details on the documentary show and fight night commentating team.

What do you do when you have arguably the best boxer in history in Floyd Mayweather Jr. fighting one of the most popular social media stars in the world in Logan Paul? Make it the biggest spectacle possible.

Although it’s just an exhibition, Mayweather vs. Paul is a combination of wildly popular figures. This one is leaving boxing purists with a bitter taste in their mouths, but it’s much easier to swallow if you consider it the entertainment cherry on top of a pretty good fight card overall.

Showtime will be airing a 30-minute documentary program on Saturday, May 29, at 9:30 p.m. ET titled Inside Mayweather vs. Paul. The Showtime special will visit the Mayweather and Paul training camps and offer behind-the-scenes insight into this, shall we say, interesting matchup.

What will be curious to see is how seriously Mayweather is taking this contest. Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs) retired with a perfect professional record. The five-weight class world champion doesn’t have much to gain from this fight other than money and added fame and attention.

Mayweather, whose nickname is ‘Money,’ puts an abundance of importance on wealth. He’s going to get paid nicely, especially if this Sunday, June 6 contest is a success in terms of pay-per-view buys. This bout is filled with sensationalism.

Paul (0-1) has one loss on his professional boxing record. At 6-foot-2, Paul has a 6-inch height advantage over Mayweather and is much bigger, but he’s a boxing novice stepping up against one of the great ones. Yes, Mayweather is 44 years old, but that shouldn’t matter much in this fight. Will Mayweather carry Paul, or will he try to embarrass the youngster? That’s what people are waiting to see.

Deviating from their standard hosting responsibilities, Showtime will add comic team Desus Nice and The Kid Mero from the Showtime show Desus & MeroThey will join Brian Custer. Brendan Schaub will be added to the commentating team of Mauro Ranallo, Al Bernstein, and Abner Mares.

Watch Mayweather vs. Paul from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, on Sunday, June 6, on Showtime pay-per-view. Coverage begins at 8 p.m. ET. The pay-per-view cost is $49.99. You can also watch live fight week events at the Showtime Sports YouTube Channel.
