A New York Knicks fan attempted to spit on Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young in Game 2.

No doubt nature is healing, as one New York Knicks fan tried to spit on Atlanta Hawks point guard in Game 2 on Wednesday night.

New York split the pair at home by taking Game 2 over Atlanta, 101-92. While Young silenced Madison Square Garden on Sunday night with his late-game heroics, one of New York’s finest decided Young had to get that dirt off his shoulder by way of projectile saliva. Amidst the cacophony of F U chants and digs at Young’s MPB at MSG, this was the most disgusting of acts.

On Wednesday night, we learned that Philadelphia popcorn and New York spit belong in the mouths of rowdy fans instead of on the bodies of superstar Eastern Conference point guards.

The fan was later banned from MSG permanently.

While it is great to see the Knicks play winning basketball at an increasingly packed house at MSG, act like you have been there before. New York should have every reason to celebrate its first playoff victory in eight years like an NFL playoff game, but you probably should not spit on a professional athlete, no matter how badly you want to label him as 21st century Reggie Miller.

Overall, this best-of-seven series between the Hawks and the Knicks has been electrifying thus far. This is a budding rivalry we did not know we needed, but we are so thankful that we are getting it. Young is comfortable of being the enemy in all five boroughs, while Reggie Bullock is doing his best to get under Atlanta’s skin like Matthew Dellavedova did back in the day in 2016.

In a battle of bad haircuts, this series is a spitting image of the ’90s Knicks vs. the Indiana Pacers.
