Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll made it perfectly clear that the team could end up bringing back veteran linebacker K.J. Wright.

Somehow, linebacker K.J. Wright remains a free agent. While there was a possibility earlier this offseason that the Dallas Cowboys would ink him, Jerry Jones and Co. decided to pass on that opportunity. So, could Wright end up back with the Seattle Seahawks this fall?

While meeting with reporters on Thursday, head coach Pete Carroll said the “door is open” for Wright to return to Seattle and keep on making plays for the team. It’s up to general manager John Schneider to go out and make that happen, though.

Seahawks fans are hoping K.J. Wright re-signs with Seattle in the near future

Wright has spent the past 10 seasons with the Seahawks, joining the team way back in 2011. He helped the team win the Super Bowl in 2013, which obviously highlights his time in The Emerald City. However, it’s completely up in the air if he’ll be back or not.

It looks like Carroll would be a fan of a reunion, which is easy to understand. Wright indeed is a fan favorite, as he’s appeared in 144 games for the organization and made 140 starts. While with the Seahawks, the 6-foot-4, 245-pounder posted 941 career tackles.

In 2020, Wright started all 16 games for the Hawks, recording 86 tackles, two sacks and one interception. There’s no question he’s one of the best free agents still available out there.

Someone is going to end up with a tackle machine for 2021. It remains to be seen if he’ll end up making his standout plays in the NFC West or potentially head elsewhere. If you ask folks in Seattle, he should stay in town where he belongs.

Next. Cowboys passing on K.J. Wright could be big news for Seahawks. dark
