Denver Broncos tight end Noah Fant has a front-row seat for the quarterback competition between Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock.

The Denver Broncos have to sort out their quarterback situation this offseason. The success of the team will hinge on picking the right one.

On a more focused level, the quarterback who wins the job will play a role in the continued development of promising young tight end Noah Fant.

Naturally, Fant already has things to say about the options available to the Broncos, specifically new addition Teddy Bridgewater.

“I’ve gotten the chance to throw with Teddy these last couple days of OTAs,” Fant said, per Mile High Sports. “You can definitely tell that he’s a vet. Ball placement and things like that are very important to him.”

Noah Fant will catch passes from Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock

The Broncos traded a sixth-round selection in the 2021 draft to the Panthers for Bridgewater. He had signed with Carolina in 2020, throwing for 3,733 yards, 15 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 15 starts. He went 4-11 as a starter.

While there may have been some potential with Bridgewater with the Panthers, they traded for Sam Darnold, making Bridgewater surplus to requirements. The move to Denver was a chance for the quarterback to battle for a starting job.

“He’s been great for us—he and Drew [Lock] both,” Fant said. “I’m excited to see them compete through camp and through the preseason to help our team be better.”

Lock is the incumbent starter. The Broncos picked him in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft and he showed potential as a rookie with a 4-1 record in five starts. However, his 2020 season left quite a bit to be desired. He led the NFL in interceptions with 15 while posting a 4-9 record.

He’s still a young prospect, but he’ll have to shake off the rough spell quickly to make sure Bridgewater doesn’t take his job.
