Jameson Taillon’s take on Yankees offense says it all
By John Buhler
Jameson Taillon digs at the New York Yankees offense for not scoring enough runs for him.
With the New York Yankees dropping their fourth game in row, starting pitcher Jameson Taillon challenges the offense to score more runs in his starts.
This is Taillon’s first year with the team, and it might be his last. He could be dealt at the trade deadline for simply not holding his own in the Yankees’ starting rotation. Taillon drops to 1-4 on the year after giving up three earned runs in five innings pitched to the division rival Tampa Bay Rays. New York is now 5.5 games back of the Rays in the AL East race at 29-25 on the season.
The Yankees offense only scored one run in their 3-1 loss at home to the visiting Rays on Monday.
Jameson Taillon wishes the New York Yankees offense would score more runs
No matter who is to blame here, it will not change the fact that the Yankees are probably not going to win the AL East this season. Tampa Bay won it a year ago, and could be in line to win back-to-back AL pennants for all we know. The Boston Red Sox are much-improved with Alex Cora back in the dugout. New York has a one-game lead over the fourth-place Toronto Blue Jays entering June.
Though the Yankees have done enough to remain above .500, that is not going to be anywhere good enough to earn an AL Wild Card spot in their deep division. They need to do some soul-searching quick to get out of whatever kind of funk they are. After getting swept by the lowly Detroit Tigers, the Yankees are in desperate need of a get-right game here soon. Will they get it?
Taillon criticizing the Yankees offense is like calling the kettle black from the staff’s worst pitcher.
